Harvest.
The word brings warm fuzzies to my heart. Family times. Outdoor times. Moving from field to field times. Supper in the field times. Running to the parts store times. Busy times, yet, September and October are not themselves without harvest. So, I might say, I have a little farm girl in me. I love harvest for all those sometimes mad dashes for the car or van to go to the field or parts store. Or those rides in the combine and grain truck, going to the elevator, eating peanuts, and feeling all farmy and dirty! So I will give a tribute to Harvest now..maybe more to come! We got started early this year. Normally the first day is big sis's birthday.
Yes, we had a breakdown. Third day, i think, on both the grain truck and the combine. The combine was more photographable..I am not sure photographing an alternator is all that exciting!?!
The aspiring mechanic and poultry farmer is also an aspiring just plain ole farmer! Here he is with one of his close buddies. This year he gets to drive the combine some..all by himself. Maybe a wee bit scary sounding for some [me?!?] but he is growing up so I just have to let him!
Waiting for their ride.
Finally!
Julie going up..
..then Josie..
..then Janie.
Harvesting with Papa and Lucy.
What joys! Last year and this spring they were not too cracked on the big equipment and I am not sure they are completely comfortable yet but they will be farm girls yet.
Blessings! Carrie Lynn
