One day in August, in the early morning hours during and after men's Bible study,
with fog just above the fields,
and morning glories
gathered 'round,
my dear brother and some of his friends
gathered in our sweet corn patch
to pick some sweet corn
for some dear friends in the South.
[notice all the sweet tired faces? Thank you SO much boys..your efforts were hugely appreciated!]
Help arrived after Bible study.
keeping the tab
All done!
Going to the house
Check out the fourwheeler "weight"!
a closer look at about 110 dozen ears of corn
cutting off the "stem" for easier shucking
and silking..
and silking..
you might get the picture..
But everyone pitched in..
and the job was soon done.
As soon as they could start some started cooking..
and cutting..
and cutting.
It might have been affecting them by now.. :]
but the job was not done so on they went..bagging and eventually freezing.
So what did the children do when they were not helping?
They played..
and played..
and pretended to be doing just like them!
They helped care for the littlest of them..
and then the littles fell asleep.
Finally, in the early afternoon..
they cleaned up..
and went home!
Then someone came home from the South to visit and she took all this corn back down with her.
Thank you one and all for helping out with this..you will never know how glad we were to recieve it! I forget what the final number was but maybe somewhere around 200 quarts of bagged frozen corn?!
"But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you.." Philippians 4:18
it was ALOT.
